Wix's pricing structure is fairly typical for a website builder, but here are some factors to note before you commit to a plan.

Annual pricing

All Wix pricing is displayed annually — which is a little sneaky if you're not ready to go all in right away — but, in comparison to other website builders out there, it is good value for money. Yearly fees will save you up to 22% annually, in comparison to Wix' monthly fees, and all premium plans come with a 14-day free trial, if you do change your mind.

Contracts

Wix's contracts are not the easiest to get out of — we found there were quite a few clauses to keep in mind, so if you're interested in trying a Wix package for free, you're better off signing up for Wix's free pricing plan, initially. This is a great way to see how Wix's website builder works in practice, and even though you won't be able to use the platform ad-free, it's pretty easy to upgrade and switch over to a premium platform of your choosing.

With annual billing, all of Wix's premium plans are ad-free, and include a year's free domain hosting as well — giving you full control over your branding.

Whats included with Wix?

Wix offers eight paid plans divided into categories, with four pricing plans for websites, three pricing plans for ecommerce stores, and an enterprise plan tailored to meet large businesses’ specific needs.

Wix’s Combo, Unlimited, Pro and VIP pricing plans all include 24/7 customer support, SEO, bandwidth, storage, hosting and your own dedicated domain. With Wix’s premium plans you can take advantage of its extensive feature-rich catalog, intuitive drag-and-drop editor and a choice over 800 customizable templates, ad-free. How does Wix compare?

The only provider that's really comparable to Wix's powerful offering is Squarespace, which has the same starting cost, but prioritizes design templates over ease of use. While website builders like Weebly offer a lower-cost monthly package in comparison to Wix, the value just isn't there. When we compared the best website builders for small businesses side-by-side, our researchers found that Wix provides better value for money than most because it offers relatively low prices while still providing an unmatched feature selection. A lot of people think that the best Wix pricing plan is the plan that is the most expensive — the truth is, no one size fits all. No sites will require the same features, and there’s no point in shelling out for an online store plan, for example, if you only need your site to work as an online portfolio. Wix has a variety of packages available to cater to a variety of needs.

In this section, we'll run through the types of standard websites you can build with Wix, that don't include ecommerce, and outline which Wix pricing plan our research suggests would work best for your industry.

Wix Combo plan

$16 per month

The Combo plan is the first Wix plan that we would advise people to use. By paying the nominal fee every month, you'll get a regular URL, or the ability to connect your site to a domain and URL that you already own. Plus, you'll get full access to Wix’s excellent roster of website building tools. This means you'll be able to take advantage of its powerful drag-and-drop editor, excellent website templates, and range of third-party extensions.

The Combo plan also removes adverts and gives you 2GB storage, plus you’ll also be able to upload up to 30 minutes of HD video to stream and promote your business online and use the platform's new AI text generator. If you buy the Combo plan for a year, you’ll also get a free domain voucher.

You could run a brilliant website with the Combo plan, but it probably isn’t ideal for high-traffic sites given the 2GB bandwidth.

Wix Unlimited plan

The Unlimited Plan is Wix's most popular offering – and it's not hard to see why.

For a start, you'll get unlimited bandwidth. This should help alleviate any concerns you might have about traffic numbers. Your website's storage will be increased to 5GB, giving you more room for videos, photos, and audio. Wix will also allow you to upload up to one hour's worth of video content. Again, there are no adverts on the Unlimited Plan.

Wix will also give you free access to its Site Booster and Form Builder apps. The Site Booster app will give you the tools and tips you need to improve your site's SEO, allowing it to appear closer to the top of Google rankings. The Form Builder app, on the other hand, will let you create forms to capture information about potential customers.

It’s not too much of a price hike over the Combo plan, and it’s probably worth the small increase in outlay given the extra visibility your site will get. Again, buy the plan for a year, and you’ll get a free domain voucher.

Plus, it includes two hours to showcase and stream your videos online, increased storage, and access to a professional logo-maker and external calendar integration.

With the Events Calendar app you'll be able to connect all of your external calendars automatically, giving you full visibility over your events, allowing you to see everything you need all in one place —  which is a great asset for any business. The professional logo-maker was also a feature we particularly liked as it allows businesses to cut of make their own professional logo without having to splash out on a professional designer. Plus, the logo-maker comes with full commercial rights — meaning there's no restrictions on how, or where you can use it —  and, it comes with all the file formats.

Wix VIP plan

The VIP plan is Wix's most expensive offering if you don't need any ecommerce functionality, but you'll get a massive 100GB of storage, which will give you plenty of opportunity to build out your website . You'll also be able to upload five hours of video content, which will help profile your business in an entirely different light. What's more, Wix will also give you the ability to send email marketing campaigns. You'll be limited to 10 of these per month, but that should be more than enough to help drum up some business from previous customers.

Perhaps the most important part of the Wix VIP plan is that you'll get priority support response. This means that in the event something goes wrong with your website, you'll be able to get much faster phone support. This could be essential if you're running a big, successful business.

While some aspects of the VIP plan seem really similar to the Unlimited plan, having the extra support and marketing emails might make a big difference to your business' bottom line.

Wix’s ecommerce pricing plans start at $27 per month, and all include a custom domain, secure online payments, customer accounts, good storage, video hours, social integrations, unlimited product listings and abandoned cart recovery.

Wix's business and ecommerce plans include Business Basic, Business Unlimited, and Business VIP. All of the pricing plans will let your website accept online payment and won’t charge you any commission fees on products you sell. One of the best things included with all Wix business pricing plans is its ad voucher offer — $500 Google Ads (with a $500 purchase), $100 Bing Ads, and $100 in Local Listings — which makes it $700 worth of ad vouchers total, and huge value for money.

Wix's Business Basic pricing tier is its entry-level ecommerce offering. It'll cost you $27 per month if you pay for it annually, and since we last reviewed the product, has significantly improved its storage offering, upping it from 20GB to 50GB.

You'll also get access to five video hours which you can use to set up subscriptions your content, or promote and stream your videos online — and get access to the Site Booster and Form Builder apps, which can help your business boost sales.

When it comes to ecommerce, the biggest upside of switching to a Wix Business plan is that it won't take any commission from your sales.

The Wix Business Unlimited will cost you $32 per month when billed annually, and includes a lot of useful features that would be beneficial for your business.

With Wix Business Unlimited, you'll get access to Wix's logo builder (which normally costs $50), which will help you make your site look more professional, and save costs on having to spend more cash on a getting professional designer. Since we last reviewed Wix Business Unlimited, storage has upped from 35GB to 100GB – which is a significant jump in both space and value. Plus, you'll be able to upload up to 10 hours of video, so you'll have plenty of room for all your additional content.  You'll also get 100 automated sales tax per month, the ability to add 1,000 reviews and up to 250 products dropping.

Wix Business VIP

Wix's Business VIP plan had its biggest glow up in 2022, with storage and video hours both upped to the limit we've all been waiting for — unlimited.  This is a huge improvement to the previous offer, which restricted storage to 50GB, and video hours too. The Business VIP plan costs $59 per month when billed annually, and includes more online reviews (3,000), more transactions with automated sales tax (500 per month) and unlimited dropshipping.

Wix Enterprise Plan

Wix's Enterprise plan is reserved for the biggest businesses. As such, prices start from a whopping $500 per month. You get all the features from the Business VIP plan, but you also get access to some bespoke features.

For example, professionals from Wix will help you plan, develop, and launch your business, or give you a hand with growing your existing business. You also get annual security audits – handy if you're managing lots of customer data.

The Enterprise plan would be ideal for larger businesses with multiple employees and complex online operations, but in all honesty even this was out of our pay bracket. If you do have a larger business, you might find more value in investing in something like Shopify. It's a platform specifically designed for larger ecommerce businesses, and has the features and functionality to match.

Does Wix Have a Free Plan?

Yes, if you're looking to get started on the website builder without paying, Wix does offer a free plan. We discuss the plan in detail below:

Wix free plan

Wix is one of the few website builders that does offer a forever free plan, but as you'd expect with a free plan, there are a lot of drawbacks. For example, while Wix’s free plan technically won’t cost you a dime, the lack of a custom URL could cost you brand recognition and authority online.

With a Wix free plan your site will be covered in Wix-branded ads, and will include a Wix-branded URL, with a string of numbers at the end that’ll make your site look unprofessional and unfinished. This will also mean your site is more likely to be penalized by Google, meaning fewer people will be able to find it.

Perhaps Wix's biggest kicker, however, is that your site will have very little bandwidth. This means that you won't be able to support many visitors coming to your site every month, or at once. As a result, even if people find your site and decide to stick around, they might not be able to come back later in the same month. You're better off trialing a Wix premium plan for free.

However, Wix Free users can benefit from the platform's new settings that make it easier to control their technical SEO data and search optimization features on a granular level. This on top of the builder's new integration with Semrush, makes Wix ahead of the game when it comes to driving traffic, in comparison to other website builders that offer very basic SEO tools, if any.

Given the value of Wix paid plans, we really can't recommend the free plan other than for testing it out before you buy, particularly for businesses. The plan just simply doesn't provide enough, and for such a low price, you get so much more.

Wix free trial

With Wix's 14-day free trial, you'll get access to any Wix premium plan you choose. You'll be able to build and publish your own website, with all the features you'd find in the premium plan of your choosing. However, you won't be able to actually accept any payment and will need to upgrade at the end of your trial if you don't want to risk losing your website.

Does Wix Have Hidden Costs?

All prices on Wix’s website are advertised monthly, but they only apply if you agree to commit to annual billing – which is a bit sneaky.

But, If you do choose to pay month-to-month you’ll find that your package is more expensive anyways, so the annual fee, in our opinion, does provide more value overall.

Annual pricing aside, Wix pricing follows quite a clear structure, but there are some costs that you should be aware of before taking the plunge. For example, when you upgrade to a Wix premium plan, you'll get a free domain — but, only if you purchase a yearly plan. To qualify, it'll also have to be your first Wix purchase, and you will only have to months to claim. Once your free year is up, you won't have the opportunity to renew, and will  have to start paying for your domain, which will cost you $14.95 per year. Our research suggests having your own domain is definitely worth it in the long run though, as it'll help search engines find your pages, will include custom email addresses and give your website a professional finish.

Another thing to watch out for is that all of Wix's plans are set to auto-renew, so it's important to know what you're signing up before you take the plunge. You can, however, cancel the auto-renewing subscription if you switch it off in your settings on your Wix dashboard —  and you won't lose access to your account, or your site.

While Wix's extensive app store can help add a lot of useful extra functionality to your site, some apps will require some extra outlay before you can use them. For example, while you won't have to pay to add an Instagram feed to your site, some accounting apps will only offer short-term trial periods. Premium apps typically cost less than $10 per month, but some can run up to $20 per month.

If the app is going to help you make money, it will probably be worth paying the extra cost. But if it's offering an otherwise free service, we'd probably avoid it.

It'll cost you an extra $6 per month and it will give your business an extra air of professionalism and it's super easy to get started. It might be cheaper to try and find an alternative solution by going through a custom domain hosting provider, or directly through Google.

Here's what you have to do:

3. Pick how many mailboxes you want
4. Choose a subscription and complete your purchase.

While that all sounds delightfully simple, as always, there some things to bear in mind.

Wix offers its premium email accounts through Gmail. If you like using Gmail, great. If you don't, it might be worth looking around to see if there's an alternative. However, this does mean that you get access to the whole of Google Workspace – including Google Drive, Docs, Calendar, and Hangouts – which might make it the perfect package for your office.
